I’ll be the first to admit that this isn’t the best picture I’ve ever taken but it was a great learning experience. I was motivated by Tau Zero, who is amazing by the way, and how he stitches photos together, you can read his post here. Since I currently do not own an ultra wide lens, I got to thinking that stiching images together would be a way to get a similar effect.
Yesterday when I was driving to work the sky was afire in pinks and purples. So I thought “you take some photos” and try stitching these together. I pulled over at a church that has a large lake on it’s property, and took 4 photos in a portrait orientation. I then used Microsoft’s Image composite editor (ICE) to stitch the images together, it’s free by the way and easy to use. After it did it’s thing I pulled the composite into Lightroom to do my normal edits. For a first effort I thought that it wasn’t to bad. I can really see some great possibilities with this technique.
