Horse Trainer’s Cabin
This small two bedroom cabin was built in the 1850’s and was home for the horse trainer at McKinney Farms. John Van Hagen moved from South Carolina to raise thoroughbreds, he worked here until 1873 when he moved to New York.
Why black and white? Well for several reasons, the lighting wasn’t all that great, in color it actually looks boring with gray trees, light brown grass and gray limestone, plus photographing something that old I felt just needed to be in black and white.
